The game is based on the novel Water Margin, and takes place in ancient China during the reign of Emperor Huizong of the Song Dynasty. The player fights with the ten bandits to build, sustain, and command an army of troops to eventually capture the evil Gao Qiu, China's Minister of War, before the Jurchen invasion occurs in January 1127.
