Archie's War: The Battle for Guadalcanal puts you in command of American or Japanese forces during the bitter struggle for Guadalcanal in 1942. The Marines have seized Henderson Field, but the Japanese are determined to take it back. Choose either side and contend with limited intelligence, uncertain enemy strength, and difficult decisions about where to concentrate your forces, when to attack, and when to hold your ground. Archie's War is a faithful digital adaptation of the published board game from Worthington Publishing. It is designed as a compact wargame rather than a lengthy simulation: a complete game can be played in about 20 minutes. Features Play either side. Command the U.S. Marines defending Henderson Field or the Japanese forces trying to capture it. Limited intelligence. Enemy forces and their strength are not always known, forcing you to make decisions with incomplete information. Diceless combat. Victory depends on the forces you commit and the decisions you make, not a lucky combat roll. A changing battle. Reinforcements and enemy movements continually change the situation on Guadalcanal. Fast play. Fight the entire battle in roughly 20 minutes. Built-in opponent. Whichever side you choose, the computer controls the opposing forces. Faithful to the board game. The digital version implements the published game while handling setup, enemy actions, combat resolution, and bookkeeping for you. Undo. Reverse a move when you misclick or reconsider a decision. Capture Henderson Field—or hold it against everything the enemy can throw at you.
